MORE INFORMATION
The Corner Family Surgery provide medical consultations by appointment only. We will endeavour to make the appointment for your preferred doctor at a time that suits you. Alternatively, should your doctor not be available, we will offer you an option to see one of our other doctors.
Appointments
Our practice uses an appointment system. Each appointment is usually allocated 15 minutes. Please advise staff at the time of booking if you require a longer appointment or have multiple medical issues to discuss.
We allow “urgent” appointment times each day for those patients who need medical care on the day.
With the high demand for appointments on most days, if you need a non urgent appointment for any reason, including repeat scripts, referrals, skin checks, check up or anything not urgent, please book ahead and allow a few days to obtain an appointment. By doing this, you will get an appointment at the time to suit your schedule, the doctor of your choice and leave “urgent” appointments for those patients who need urgent medical care on the day.
Referrals
Referrals to specialists and other health professionals requires a consultation with your doctor. This includes initial referral as well as follow up referrals
Repeat Prescriptions
For patient safety reasons and insurance reasons we usually do not prescribe scripts without a consultation. Your Doctor will generally prescribe enough medication to last you until your next visit review.
Communication & Phone Calls
Phone calls to the Doctor interrupt consultations. Our receptionists will give the Doctor a message and/or help as much as possible with the enquiry. Problems needing an involved discussion are best dealt with by an appointment with your Doctor. Our receptionists may need to ask the nature of the call to ascertain the urgency if making an appointment, however they are not medically trained and will not be able to give medical advice or discuss a medical problem with you. We do not provide results or consultations via email for confidentiality reasons, as recommended across the healthcare industry.
Cancellation Policy
We like to be informed of any cancellations prior to your appointment, as this will free up your appointment for someone else. You may also be charged a $10.00 non-attendance fee if you do not cancel your appointment. We are happy to reschedule appointments subject to availability.

We are a mixed billing practice with bulk billing for Pensioners, Healthcare Card Holders, Veterans' and children under the age of 16. Fees are determined by the individual Doctor at the time of consultation.
